The Mind Cove
Neurodevelopmental assessment and care
At The Mind Cove, we specialise in comprehensive assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental conditions, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and related conditions.
Assessment process
The assessment process begins with an initial consultation to explore your experience and determine if further investigations are needed. We generally also conduct a collateral interview with someone who knows you well to gain additional information. A feedback session follows to discuss diagnostic impressions, treatment recommendations, and next steps.
Ongoing care
If medication is part of your treatment plan, we commence with monthly reviews to adjust dosage and monitor your response. Once the optimal regimen is established and stability is achieved, review appointments may transition to every three months, then eventually every six months.
At The Mind Cove, we provide thorough and compassionate assessment and management of cognitive concerns, including various forms of dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and related conditions.
Our dementia assessments begin with an in-depth initial consultation to understand your concerns, cognitive history, and overall functioning. This is often followed by cognitive testing and, where appropriate, neuroimaging or other tests. We typically include a collateral interview with a family member or close contact to gain further insights into changes in memory, behaviour, and daily functioning. A comprehensive feedback session is then held to review findings, provide diagnostic clarity, and outline a personalised care plan.
We provide bulk-billed mental health assessments for residents of Residential Aged Care Facilities under medicare Item 291. This includes a comprehensive assessment and management plan, which can be conducted once every 12 months. In addition, one review can be provided within that same 12-month period, also fully bulk-billed.
We provide World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH)-aligned mental health assessments for individuals aged 18 and over who are seeking gender-affirming surgical treatments. These assessments are conducted under medicare item 291. Dr Flavell is an AusPATH member.
